Located at the intersection of the historic Old Salem, West Salem and Washington Park neighborhoods, these two re-developed warehouses, totaling nearly 13,000 square feet, will be home to several exciting, community-oriented businesses that will bring new life while preserving the unique, historic character of these buildings. The ambitious project is being developed by Broad & Walnut, LLC partners Claire Calvin (Dinners on the Porch, LLC) and Joe Williams (LMI Builders) and brings together a collective of complementary businesses in a welcome re-imagining of a community space in South WSNC.

Fun tidbit….I believe this “Walnut & Broad” property includes the location where my grandfather, David George Tutterow, Sr. owned SOUTHERN FURNACE CO. back in the late 1920s. It was listed at that time as being located at 905 South Broad Street. They were heating and sheet metal contractors offering “Warm Air Furnaces Installed Right — Roofing and Sheet Metal Work” according to an ad in an old phone directory from that time. He had previously worked for Brown, Rogers, Dixon Company in Winston-Salem before starting his own business. He and my grandmother, Ida B. Tutterow, lived on Gaston Street before moving to a farm just west of Mocksville.
